°®¶¹ÊÓƵ is a leading international examinations board active in over sixty countries. It provides respected qualifications in the performing arts, including classical music, rock & pop music, drama and speech and in English Language. °®¶¹ÊÓƵ exams are designed to help students progress; to mark an achievement at each stage of their development, and at all levels of competence, on a journey towards fulfilment of their own individual talents and abilities.

°®¶¹ÊÓƵ was created by °®¶¹ÊÓƵ College of Music, the UK’s second oldest conservatory. °®¶¹ÊÓƵ started the first examination program over 130 years ago, a model later adopted by other groups. With expert examiners, the backing of leading specialists and academics, a quality product, and an approachable style, °®¶¹ÊÓƵ encourages and motivates students to achieve their personal, vocational and professional goals.

°®¶¹ÊÓƵ focuses on music, drama and ESOL, with graded examinations for individuals and groups assessing proficiency levels from beginner to accomplished concert artiste. The candidate is at the heart of °®¶¹ÊÓƵ’s work.  All °®¶¹ÊÓƵ examiners are professional musicians and fully trained assessors.  They emphasize evaluating what candidates can do and make the assessment experience as positive as possible.

In Canada, °®¶¹ÊÓƵ examinations have taken place since the 1930s on a restricted scale and °®¶¹ÊÓƵ is now working actively to extend its operations here through the opening of new centers. There are now many centers throughout Canada and continues to expand. In 2007, °®¶¹ÊÓƵ appointed Lum Fun Lee as its North American coordinator.  °®¶¹ÊÓƵ's examination program in Canada has expanded to include Music, Choral Assessment, Speech & Drama, Musical Theatre, Performance Arts, Acting For Screen and Communications Skills.
